The Fantôme Queen Character Profiles

Hi everyone! So, since I posted my first #SuggestionBox on Friday, and the story will be three parts, I thought it might be fun to do character profiles on Charlotte, Talia, and Jackson so you all can learn more about them. To do this, I’m going to use fourteen of my favorite/most useful questions from The 100 Most Important Things to Know About Your Character  and one more that I added.

Let’s get started!

Charlotte

Theme Song: Sleepsong by Bastille

  1. What’s your Zodiac sign and how accurate is it? Pisces. It is relatively accurate except she doesn’t like to be alone and is much more confident when surrounded by those she trusts and who trust her. She is a leader, but also very insecure, particularly when it comes to the acceptance of her magical heritage. She is hardworking and determined, willing to do things even when they scare her if it will lead to a solution to a problem or an answer to a question.
  2. What do you have in your pockets? A music note keychain that used to belong to her mother.
  3. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? She over thinks situations, especially if they are unfamiliar–this is why she is most comfortable around people she trusts– they can pull her back if she goes too far. She also tends to focus too much on the small details of conflicts, and can sometimes miss the bigger picture.
  4. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them. Widow Seraphina, a grandmother figure to her who runs the seamstress shop in town. She is always willing to listen. She took care of Charlotte and her father following the years that Charlotte’s mother died. She is calm, perceptive, and reliable.
  5. What is your earliest memory? Sitting with her mother in an unidentifiable shop.
  6. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far? Her mother coming to her in her dreams because it means her powers are awakening.
  7. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why? She would find out what made her mother go mad, and help her.
  8. What is your greatest fear? Embracing her powers only to end up like her mother.
  9. Who has had the most influence on you? Widow Seraphina & her father.
  10. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes? Reading, volunteering, visiting with Seraphina, cooking Creole food, playing piano–this especially because it calms her.
  11. What is your most treasured possession? Her mother’s old sheet music.
  12. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself? Play her mother’s favorite songs.
  13. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death? Doing something to help someone else become a better person.
  14. What three words best describe your personality? Determined, dedicated, inquisitive.
  15. What three words would others probably use to describe you? Passionate, brave, trustworthy.
Talia

Theme Song: Hello by Kelly Clarkson

  1. What’s your Zodiac sign and how accurate is it? Sagittarius. Her sign is moderately accurate. While she is generous, she is more skeptical than idealistic and her humor tends to come with a sharp tongue. She uses it to cover her fearfulness. She has very little filter and is all about girl-power and not needing anyone else to solve her problems.
  2. What do you have in your pockets? Talia is impulsive and frequently forgets to carry anything in her pockets that wasn’t leftover from a week before. The most common thing to find in her pockets is a crumpled five-dollar bill.
  3. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? Her most annoying habit is her inability to believe in outlandish possibilities. Though every family in New Orleans is magical, she still has seen no glimmer of her own powers, making her slightly jaded to the magical world and the idea of believing in things that can’t be proven for certain.
  4. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them. Her uncle, who has raised her since she was a baby. Her parents died shortly after she was born, and the circumstances surrounding their death have always been mysterious. She never fully grieved their death, instead pushing it away and pretending they never existed. This is why she calls Charlotte’s fear of facing her mother’s ghost and thus her past, trivial–because she doesn’t have the courage to face her own, and would rather live in a fabricated illusion of a simple life. Her uncle is a Summoner, with the power to summon whatever people want most- but he can’t bring back the dead. As a young child, Talia couldn’t wait to learn to Summon herself, but as her fifteenth birthday draws closer and she cannot complete even the briefest and simplest of Summonings, she realizes she might be an elemental mage instead, something she detests, because her mother had the power to control the Earth. Facing her powers then, would mean facing her grief.
  5. What is your earliest memory? Watching her uncle make Summon a dog for her friend Anya to play with at her fifth birthday party, and the joy it brought Anya.
  6. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far? Discovering she was not meant to follow in her uncle’s footsteps.
  7. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why? She would prevent her parents deaths.
  8. What is your greatest fear? Facing her grief.
  9. Who has had the most influence on you? Her uncle, and the ghosts of her parents that metaphorically haunt her.
  10. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes? It used to be practicing magic, currently it’s hiking.
  11. What is your most treasured possession? Her mother’s ring, which she wears around her neck on a chain made from the broken chain of her father’s pocket watch.
  12. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself? Research new places to travel
  13. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death? Making people smile.
  14. What three words best describe your personality? Cautious, curious, and secretive.
  15. What three words would others probably use to describe you? Loyal, sarcastic, and practical
Jackson

Theme Song: You Got Me by Gavin DeGraw

  2.     What do you have in your pockets? A phone and some extra change. He sees no need to carry more than necessary.
  3.     Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? He sometimes thinks he knows what others need better than they do.
